What is a Paihama?

Paihama [Pie-ha-ma] is the Maori (native people of New Zealand) word for trichosaurus vulpecula, known in English as the Common Brushtail Possum. We use the term Paihama to avoid confusion with the American Opossum. The Common Brushtail Possum and the American Opossum are both marsupials but they are different animals, as different as cats and dogs.
