The best socks in the world.

Kia Ora from the Happy Valley of Western Massachusetts, where the typical New England winter is just starting to chill out at around 10 degrees. But not to worry, I am staying warm with three winter coats and one pair of fantastic Paihama socks! I’ve never felt anything like these soft wonder-socks. They are righteously warm, durable and comfortable. They stay fresh for days, and with every luxuriously natural-fiber’d step, I think of the lush verdance of the New Zealand native bush, and rejoice that wearing awesome Paihama socks supports the protection of those radiant, unique forests in the Land of the White Cloud… good on ya’ Paihama!
This summer we hiked 400 miles through the rugged country of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. After 35 days of dirt, grime, sweat, and abuse, our socks were still just as soft and cushiony as Day 1. We have never worn a softer sock, or a more durable one. They are so soft it is like wearing cashmere on your feet.
On our trip, we found many other uses for our socks. We used them for extra hip and shoulder padding when the padding on our backpacks wore out.
We also used them for gloves when the weather was especially cold. Now that we’re off the trail, we still wear our silky soft socks all the time as slippers around the house.

Reporting from Korea, where the late autumn/early winter temperatures are quite chilly… I wore my Paihamas for 5 days of hiking in the countryside and sightseeing in the cities. My toes stayed soooo toasty and my feet felt pampered in their silky cocoon. Next stop–Nepal–where the warmth and comfort of the socks will be enjoyed and very much appreciated!
I thought these gals were pulling my leg when they talked up these socks. Well now I only wear Paihama. This is the best sock I have ever worn. Far better then Smart Wool or the like. Breathable, Light, Soft, Warm. . . these fibers are intelligent and wearing them I know I have purchased a product that actually did something positive for the environment.
Thanks,
Matt Cohen
Hey I got my socks really fast. Thank you for the speedy service. I am wearing them right now. You are right they are the coziest socks I have ever had on my feet. Can’t wait to cross-country ski in them!
Thanks again.
The Socks Will Stand Up To Neptune Himself!
So I went for a hike with a friend on the legendary Lost Coast near to the westernmost point in the contiguous US. I was anticipating: sand, saltwater, wind, both slippery as well as rough rocks and terrain. So I wore my Paihama socks, mainly so I could say I actually wore them on a hike instead of as slippers in my house.
I’d have nothing spectacular to report if I didn’t give up on trying to balance on smooth, wobbly boulders and just ended up wading across the dang creek. I could have swore I felt a frigid sliver of sea water slide down my ankle, but as soon as I started walking it seemed like my feet were dry. I wondered about my feet many times throughout that 6 mile walk, usually exposure to sea water created serious odor issues with my footsies, not to mention how wrinkled and pitted they get. Ok I do have some serious athlete’s foot that has been plaguing me since I was in the military, but I’ll save you the horrid details, as long as you understand what I was expecting was waiting for me inside my hiking boots when I was going to arrive at home and finally take them off (6 mile hike with soggy salt water, 1 hour drive in heated vehicle). Though to be honest with you, 10 steps beyond the creek and I’d forgotten all about how dry my feet felt, and didn’t think about them again til we came back to the same creek and I ended up using the same strategy for crossing it. I was sure the first time I’d just gotten lucky and the foot that had been submerged must have had a bubble of air around it or something. So I made sure to slip and almost got to test out the water resistance qualities of my cotton overalls.
Anyways, to make a long story short, when I finally arrived home and took my boots off, I detected no smell. As I removed my socks I was very suprised to discover that they were soaking wet! Though my feet were wet too, I detected no smell whatsoever, other than the smell of the ocean in my shoes.
I’m looking forwards to doing more product testing on subsequent hikes, but I’m definitely sure I’ve found my favorite hiking sock of all time! Thanks Paihama!
I purchased a pair of PAIHAMA socks for my “intensly”(EVERY DAY, rain or shine!) avid golfer husband, Ben. He said he has never played golf in cool/cold weather months without wearing two pair of cotton socks…NOW, no longer necessary, it seems!….Ben suggests you sell PAIHAMA socks at golf courses and pro shops to attract the attention of other rabid golfers….
I purchased PAIHAMA socks for both of my sons who wear police and fireman work boots in their careers….they both agree it is the first time they have ever had warm feet during cold weather and difficult working conditions. They also do not wash the socks til their “days-in-a-row shifts” end with NO complaints from those around them.
I hear about these two people, Sonya and April, selling socks made in New Zealand with a weird name: Paihama. I’m intrigued. I order a pair of Paihama socks and they arrived in just a couple of days. Wow! I was told they have “lasting” power. I decide to put them to the Test: I will wear these socks for at least 2 weeks! I know this will sound incredible, but after five weeks of wearing these socks during the day and removing them at night… I didn’t detect any odor! I decided though to wash the socks in order to give them a little loft/fluff in the interest of cleanliness. Wearing a pair of Paihama socks is highly recommended… Go ahead, put them to the Test.
I love these socks - - have used them for hiking, hunting, work, gifts and of course lounging at home! I have bought most of the high-end socks for hiking/hunting on the market and I can tell you this - even though I have two pairs of paihamas - my next buy will be PAIHAMA again!! This year while hunting upland game in western NE, we had over 5 inches of fresh snow fall and freezing conditions. I hunted all day Sat and ended up leaving my boots in an outside shed so they were basically frozen solid when I had to put them on . . . lucky I had my Paihamas! As my frozen boots thawed throughout the day, I never had any dampness on my feet and I had plenty of warmth. My boots were soaked and seriously, my feet were dry! I dont know how they work, but I sure am glad I have a pair!
Our 28 year old friend, Sam, received the best of gifts… a life saving kidney transplant last month after waiting 7 years!! Sam had no complaints about anything, BUT cold feet during his hospital stay. His dad’s solution was quick and efficient… he took off the PAIHAMA socks he was wearing and put them on Sam …there they stayed until he was home a week later with his new kidney and still warm feet… life is good.(we sent them another pair of Paihama socks so they didnt have to fight over them)
Wool has always itched me (very sensitive skin) - and my feet were forever cold. Until… I found Paihama socks! Now I only take them off to wash them. My feet are so happy and warm.
I work on a 750 acre organic farm. I work in these socks everyday - in both summer and winter… and they are still so cozy and comfortable!
A 12 day hike around a windy, cold, muddy island found my feet in the same pair of trekking socks. They are still in gorgeous shape and never smelled!
What else can I say… they have improved my life heaps!!
It was mid-October 2007. Winter was coming on. Sure, I had heard the rumors and the hype, I had heard this strange new word “paihama” being thrown around and noticed that an army of fuzzy marsupial-clad feet was steadily gathering around me.
“Frankly,” I told April, “I’m just not really a sock-person”.
“Try on a test pair,” she suggested.
Ok, I thought, no harm there. I slipped a pair of size medium “natural” onto my feet; I wiggled my toes and walked once around the room.
“Ohhh…OOOOHH…mmmmm….mmm-Hmm! WOW!” I said. “These socks… are… a CONVERSION EXPEREINCE!”
I did not believe there was a sock that could be described as “life-changing” until that fateful evening, when in mere moments I went from Unbeliever to Paihama Convert. I have never looked back.
It is impossible to describe the exact feeling of wearing paihama, a feeling simultaneously akin to both utter security and lavish luxury, a sensation of floating in softness yet being firmly rooted on earth. I tested the durability claim (for scientific purposes) by wearing my first pair for two months straight without washing them, which lead to my battle-cry: “these are ENDURANCE SOCKS!” Although they passed the endurance-challenge, I did buy a second pair so that while one set is washing and drying I will never, ever, be forced into the position of wearing inferior sockware, even for an hour.
You may think it’s all too good to be true. That’s understandable. That’s how I felt, five months ago, when I claimed not to care about the transformative power of a really good pair of socks. In fact, I’m still not a “sock-person”; I’m a “Paihma-person”.
Now isn’t it time for YOU to experience the Conversion?
So I am a bit of a girlie girl and I have a lovely collection of stripped knee socks that bring me a lot of joy. I bought my first pair of Paihama socks to be supportive of my sweet friend’s new business. Now I am a complete convert! I walk all over rainy Portland, Oregon in pursuit of public transport hubs. As some of you might know Portland is a rainy grey city for a significant portion of the year. My feet have always end up damp and cold from my outside excursions. But not anymore. I now have the toastiest feet in the world. Paihama socks are so thick that any dampness is absorbed without me being the wiser. The fibers of the socks keep my feet so warm. I frequently utter silent praise of my socks as I trudge around on blustery days. I have sent a mass email out to all of my friends and now I say to you buy some of the GREATEST SOCKS IN THE WORLD. You will not regret it!
I have ice-cold feet, so I had my doubts when I was told these were the ‘greatest socks in the world’. But I have to say now I am a complete convert, and am planning on buying a pair for everyone in my family for Christmas. I LOVE them! I hope there is some kind of card or promotional information that comes with the socks, so I don’t have to explain it to everyone I give these to! These socks are wonderful!
